Wind Streaks in Syrtis Major (Treefallsounds Records, 2012)

In 2010, Dennis Gonzalez initiated a meeting with Wojtek Mazolewski, which resulted in the collaborative project: Wojtek Mazolewski Trio feat. Dennis Gonzalez.

That particular group not only toured, but they also went into the studio. We will be able to admire the results of this first meeting soon, because the material will be released in October of this year by the new label, For Tune Records. In 2011 the American record company, Tree Fall Sounds released the vinyl 7” record by Dennis Gonzalez YELLS AT EELS feat. Wojtek Mazolewski and Marek Pospieszalski, called “Wind Streaks in Syrtis Major”, so now we can enjoy the effects of their second meeting, which took place in 2011.

"Led by world-renowned trumpeter and composer Dennis Gonzalez, Yells At Eels is based on the best mix of avant-garde/hard-bop/free-jazz styles. He put together a band with his sons Aaron (bass) and Stefan (drums), and additionally provides a combination of avant-garde compositions with the influence of Aaron and Stefan’s punk / metal / grindcore to create a unique sound experience that speaks to the very soul of every music lover in general. The 7” vinyl "Wind Streaks in Syrtis Major" was recorded in the Gdansk branch of Polish Radio, and the American players are joined by Wojtek Mazolewski (bass) and Marek Pospieszalski (tenor sax).

The quintet is a great example of cooperation between the best musicians from Dallas, and the great representatives of the Polish scene, and they present a quality that is truly impressive…so many layers, so much passion, so much soul! Dennis Gonzalez, in addition to working with Yells at Eels, has released 40 albums. He founded a jazz labelin Dallas, daagnimRecords, and has performed concerts in Asia, Europe, Central America, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and in the biggest cities in North America during the last 30 years. Dennis Gonzales Yells at Eels (which has released 5 CDs) is celebrating 13 years of existence, and the band’s first vinyl 7 " release-" Wind Streaks in Syrtis Major is on the American label TreeFallSounds.”
