Komeda monument erected in Poznań (2011)

Krzysztof "Komeda" Trzciński is a legend in both Polish jazz as well as in film industry (collaboration with Roman Polański). His influence on Polish jazz can only be compared with that of Miles Davis on American. It may be a little surprising then that neither Polish jazzmen nor filmmakers are behind initiative to raise monument for him but Polish doctors. However as some of you may remember, Komeda studied medicine and made diploma in laryngology before moving to jazz and it seems that his fellow doctor colleagues' affection is more solid than his jazz or film compatriots. I shall certailny visit the place once in Poznań (in front of Medical University) and offer a bunch of flowers to commemorate merits for jazz of man so full of talents as he was.
If you want to get to know more about Komeda check this post please: http://kochamjazz.blogspot.com/2010/07/marek-hendrykowski-komeda-2009.html
Please, listen to sample of Komeda music (famous lullaby from Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby") played by Tomasz Stańko Quartet with Gianluigi Trovesi (unpublished concert recording):
